Chapter 7 - Creation of Rules for the Completed GuidelineNow, complete the rules for the guidelines using the techniques you learnt previously. The rules are presented below. Note that the names of the rules (the first column) will be created automatically. Also, remember that the order of the rules is important as is also the order of items within a rule. If you want to change the order or rules or items in the rules, click on the little golden arrows in the respective panels. You can now run the guideline and experiment with it by entering different values in AKC dialogs or when user abstraction dialog is shown. You can also modify the guideline or rules in different ways and see how it changes the guideline’s behavior. For example, try including a diabetes diagnosis PKC in one of the PKCs and running it and seeing what happens (may be you want to rule out diabetes if the patient is found to have obesity in AKC “Risk factors for endometrial ca?”). An experienced Protean user with clear understanding of what needs to be done in a guideline of this size and complexity can create a Proteus version in about an hour’s time. More time is required in analysis and understanding of guidelines created elsewhere to allow them to be translated into Proteus guidelines. |
